Frank Tass

Family and friends of Frank Tass are raising money through the nonprofit Help Hope Live to help cover expenses associated with a lung transplant that are not covered by insurance. 

Frank has bronchiectasis, a chronic lung disease in which repeated infections and airway damage have severely affected his breathing.  He also has rare immune complications that make his transplant case especially complex. After several transplant centers closer to home were unable to accept his case, Frank and his wife, Shannon, temporarily relocated to San Francisco so he could be listed and cared for by a transplant team with the expertise he needs.

Daily life with advanced lung disease is difficult. Frank needs oxygen, tires easily, and becomes short of breath with ordinary activities. Simple things like walking, showering, leaving the house, or getting through the day require planning, equipment, and caregiving support.

Funds raised will help with transplant-related expenses that are not fully covered by insurance, including temporary lodging, transportation, meals away from home, caregiving costs, medical expenses, and the extended recovery period after surgery. The fundraiser will also help offset lost wages while Shannon takes leave from work to serve as his caregiver.

Frank has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
