Gary has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
The following story has been written by Gary’s wife Sue.
This journey beginnings on December 30, 2021 of Sue’s cancer of her breast on the lift side. Everything came out fine and Sue came home the same day. Gary took care of me, like doing all the house work. Then on Saturday January 15, 2022, Gary was hit by a car who ran a red light, he was hit on the passenger side of the car at 40 miles per hour. He suffered concussion, pain in the neck and back, and tail bone, which still hurts him today.
On November 1, 2022, suffered a heart attack and was taken to a local Hospital and by flight for life was taken to Madison Hospital. During his stay he flat lined 3 times and came back to life. He spent 58 days at the Hospital, and then was transferred to a Rehab facility for another 50 days. During this time he under when therapy to learn how to walk again. He also had dialysis for 3 times a week for the entire stay. After his stay they, he came home and he started therapy at a local facility, for the next 3 months. Also there were very many visit of nurses and also hospital visits. Therapy continued , dialysis stopped and he started to get better. He didn’t need a walker or a cane and started walking out side when it got nice out. He started driving his car some what, but that took him almost a year to get back to normal. To this day he has problems walking up stairs and down stairs, and also going up or down ramps. His heart function is only 22 percent and has dropped from 26 percent from June of this year.
He takes 17 prescription which helps to keep him alive, but this also costs over $300.00 per month which has led to to much financial problems including maxing all his credit cards, and now we are starting to using my cards. We need financial assistance to help pay down his credit debit, or he will have to file bankruptcy.
We now drive 65 miles each way to and from the transplant hospital in Milwaukee. We do this at least 5 times a month and there are several other doctor visits also. After the procedure we will be required to be seen weekly for the first month for follow ups and testing. This does not include my doctor visits.
This is a very hard thing for Gary to do, asking for help but in this instance we have no other choice but to ask for help, and any help will be greatly appreciated.
