Dear Friends, We’re reaching out on behalf of Ms. P., a deeply courageous woman from Northern Virginia who urgently needs your support. Her situation has taken a sudden and serious downturn, and we’re rallying our community to help provide her with the care she needs—and deserves.

It’s difficult to convey the magnitude of her medical situation and daily difficulties in a single note—in fact, her medical providers, concerned by her lack of sufficient support, have provided over two dozen letters and assessments in an effort to advocate for her based on the immense severity of her condition:

Ms. P. lives with an extremely rare and debilitating connective tissue disorder. Two of her doctors have stated in their notes that hers is the most severe case they’ve ever encountered. Even brief attempts to do things that most of us take for granted—like sitting, typing, or even moving—can cause permanent injury, especially without immediate medical treatment. She has chronic injuries throughout her body and is unable to adequately turn her head. She also cannot use a wheelchair or even be safely transported on a stretcher. 

Despite her constant challenges, she has persevered with strength and grace. But now, her situation has become critical.

Recently, Ms. P. endured a medical emergency that increased both the complexity and cost of her care, followed by a reduction in essential caregiving hours, and she is almost out of funds to cover the treatment she needs. To make matters worse, during the emergency, someone in the room—unfamiliar with her fragile condition—impatiently pressured her to take actions which would have caused lasting harm. Thankfully, others also intervened to resolve the emergency, but she continues to suffer complications and emotional trauma from the experience and its aftermath.

Ms. P. survives on a fixed income, and the financial burden of this new reality is overwhelming. That’s why we’re turning to you.

We’ve partnered with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit that supports patients facing medical crises. They have verified Ms. P.’s need for community assistance with her medical team.
