Aaron Collins

Aaron Collins is a 35 year old male from New Orleans La who was diagnosed with Sever Bronchiectasis in 2017. Its a rare disease that started to spread throughout both lungs, causing Aaron to be placed on supplemental oxygen. With frequent visit to the ER and extended testing his pulmonary doctors has recommended him for a Bilateral Lung Transplant.

This is a very intense procedure that will require him to temporarily relocate and have appointed care givers to help with his recovery. Post transplant, Aaron would be visiting the doctors 3-4 times a week for 3 months and has to take a long list of medications for the rest of his life.

Aaron has a very beautiful family that supports him through these difficult times. He has a Wife whom he married two months before his illness disabled him. He also has 5 kids, twin girls 14, a step-son who is 13, and two more daughters who are 8 an 4 years of age. Aaron worked on heavy machinery and certified equipment for 15 years to provide for his family. He enjoys Music, Sports, Family time, and Boiling seafood. Aaron is very humble and loving. He tried his best to accommodate everyone’s needs, especially his kids. Aaron is very spiritual. He is constantly praying and reminding his family that by having faith in God and believing in God’s power, God is the most most compassionate and the most merciful ,everything will be alright .

After being diagnosed and being sick numerous of times, Aaron has had some changes in his daily life routine. He has gone from living a very active life style to now being limited to what he can and cannot do. Aaron can’t leave the house with out his portable oxygen, and while at home, he has to wear it around the house. He can no longer travel, he has to avoid big crowds and even watch the food he eats. He can’t be around anyone who’s smoking or anyone who has had a common cold his immune system so weak house hold cleaning supplies can cause him to become sick. Aaron says it’s depressing but he try staying positive by engaging in pulmonary rehab twice a week an having sports debates about the New Orleans Saints with the fellas. His condition has permanently disabled him from working his job where he was a forklift operator and he also loved producing music for singers and musicians. Now he just limit the things he does by only goin out to doctor appointments are just to take rides around the neighborhood to get some fresh air.

Aaron is fundraising to help with his out of pocket expenses.
These expenses include medication costs, temporary relocation expenses for him and his caregiver up to eight months after the transplant, and a lifetime of follow up care.
