Abigail Needs Your Help!

Our daughter, Abigail Seeley Finch’s life was thrown into upheaval when she was diagnosed seven years ago with cardiomyopathy and told that she needed a heart transplant. Through the miracles of our Lord and modern science, she received the gift of life through a heart transplant. Abigail spent 40 days in Stanford Medical Center and then needed to stay close to the hospital for two months post-transplant for monitoring. Her new heart is doing well and, she is getting stronger every day and back to her normal cheery, silly self.

We want to give thanks to all of you for your support and assistance during this difficult time and process. Many of you donated your time, your financial support, and spiritual support through prayers. We are very grateful. Even though the transplant has taken place and Abigail is back home, she continues to need your support.

Transplants are life saving but financially draining. Even with insurance, Abigail has incurred very high out-of-pocket expenses for temporary living for several months to be closer to the hospital post-transplant, is facing very high travel expenses (mileage, parking and tolls) for bi-weekly trips to Stanford for follow-up care, and expenses for anti-rejection medications that she will take for the rest of her life.

To help with the financial burden of Abigail’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
