Adam needs your help please!

Adam was hospitalized in October 2021 with Covid Pneumonia. Things went from bad to worse in a matter of days. He was hospitalized at Amery Hospital and clinic before he was transferred to Howard Young Medical Center to be put in an ICU. He was intubated and transferred to Froedtert Hospital to be placed on ECMO to give him a chance for his lungs to heal.

Unfortunately, things became worse and he was eventually taken off the ventilator because of the excessive bleeding due to a staph infection. He was 100% dependent on ECMO to live. Eventually they got the bleeding to stop and the ventilator was put back on. In January, they started waking him from a coma.

January 31st was the first time he walked since being hospitalized. At this time the doctors decided his only chance at life was a double lung transplant. So he pushed really hard to get strong enough to get listed and he did just that.

April 5th he received his gift. Many complications with the transplant. His lungs were scarred to his chest cavity, which cause a lot of bleeding. Many trips back into the OR to get the bleeding to stop. Things became stable. Due to his traumatic transplant – his right lung and the bruising and trauma done to it – he was relisted for a right lung.

He received a second gift on April 23rd. When he came out of the OR this time he was taken off ECMO six months to the day of being out on it. As of today he’s doing good. He’s weaning off the ventilator and hopefully be moved out of the ICU this week. He’ll then be move to the next wing and focus on therapy. When he can accomplish 3 hours of therapy a day, he’ll be moved to a rehab facility. I cannot wait till the day he comes home.
