In December 2023, Adam hit a deer while driving home, totaling his wheelchair-accessible van. Thankfully, no one was hurt; however, his van was his only way to get out into his community independently.

Unfortunately, Adam’s business, Appalachian Bees and Balms has been put on hold since the accident, and he has been cut off from working, volunteering, and socializing in his community. While the insurance settlement covers much of the roughly $80,000 expense, the remaining $35,000 to recertify his high-tech hand controls and purchase a wheelchair-accessible van is still out of reach.
