Family and friends of Addison Post are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Illness. Addison has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

Addie has been dealing with medical issues her entire life. When she was born, she was diagnosed with a life changing genetic disorder that has affected all parts of life. As she grows older, things become more and more difficult. We know that her disease is chronic and incurable, but we believe she deserves the best quality of life. This journey has been long and exhausting and it is a learning curve for the whole family as they deal with the repercussions-both emotional and financial.

In her 18 years of life, she has endured more than 60 surgeries, 3 strokes, 27 different diagnoses, months at a time in the hospital, hundreds of procedures and countless doctor’s appointments. She travels to Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Ann Arbor, and the NIH for her care. This is financially overwhelming for the family! It’s also getting harder and harder to transport her.

Addie loves drawing, legos, and video games. Right now, she is unable to do the things she loves due to numbness and injury in her right arm. It makes it impossible to hold things, feel her pen/pencil, and build her kits. She is learning to play video games with one hand and that is very challenging! In the midst of all the pain and struggle, though, she shines so brightly that she is a joy to everyone she meets.

Addie is fundraising for a vehicle to help her travel more comfortably. Right now, the family has a small car and addie struggles to be comfortable as well as fit her wheelchair, mobility devices, medications, feeding supplies, and medical equipment. They desperately need a bigger, more accessible vehicle. She is also fundraising for travel costs, home improvements and out of pocket medical and living expenses. Over the next year, it is estimated that Addie will need about $25,000 worth of mediation, travel, and living expenses alone! On top of that, the vehicle will cost about $30,000 and her equipment is several hundred dollars as well!

The family hopes that Addie will be able to receive the equipment and be able to improve the quality of life that Addie has left.
