Family and friends of Albert Harris are raising money to pay for uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

Lisa and Albert Harris exemplify a life full of the Love, I believe, God intended for us to show one another. These parents of uber active teens are busy all of the time. They are Realtors; Albert is an Assistant Pastor at New Life Church in Amarillo and Lisa is Director of Children’s Education at the church. They have coached sports teams, volunteered as chaperones for school events, church events…they are THOSE parents. Involved in their children’s lives because they love them, want to expose them to art, culture, people, places and of course…education.

They were stunned and slowed down a bit with the discovery of Albert’s End Stage Renal disease six years ago. But, they were not bowed or broken. They had faith and believed God would provide a donor. That blessing was closer than anyone realized. Although it was a long shot and with nothing to lose, Lisa was tested. she was a MATCH! And now, this couple, my dear friends, who give their hearts, their home, their wallet and their time to projects and people ..are in need of help themselves.

The sheer scope of their anticipated costs are just plain overwhelming. When the procedure takes place on August 11, Albert will have to stay in Dallas for at least five weeks; Lisa will be there for at least a week, maybe two. That means housing and food costs outside of the hospital stay. Meanwhile, Alyssa and Trey will begin school in Canyon (near Amarillo) — it’s the most expensive time of the school year! Club fees, activity dues and normal household bills don’t simply go away. Have I mentioned that Albert and Lisa are Realtors, which means they live on sales commissions and this procedure means a loss of income when it is needed most. The insurance copay for the life save anti-rejection medications will be at least $1400 per month the first six months and at least $400 per month thereafter.

This campaign is setting a goal of $60,000 to cover medicine, lodging, travel, food and household bills. Those costs are not just for the next few months but to assist them in this first year . Yes, it is a huge amount but I serve a God that is bigger. With Your help and His grace I know we can do this. Lisa, Albert, Trey and Alyssa deserve nothing less.
