Alex Litz

Alex Litz was in a life altering car accident on June 11, 2016 while driving home from the University of Florida to visit his parents. Alex was air lifted to a hospital in Ocala, FL and underwent multiple surgeries for a punctured lung, many broken bones and serious brain trauma. Alex spent many weeks in ICU undergoing surgeries to remove and replace bone plates in his skull due to various infections, swelling and pressure.

Alex spent the past 8 months at the Shephard Center with his mom, Cyndi Litz. Cyndi, a beloved Elementary school drama and dance teacher in the Orlando area, temporarily relocated to the Atlanta area to be his primary care giver and be by his side. Although he was there for rehab, he suffered many setbacks due to infections and underwent many more surgeries. The first week of April, Alex and his mom were relocated back to Central Florida via ambulance to continue his rehab closer to family. As medical bills and living expenses continue to climb, the family still has a long road ahead.

Just before the accident, Alex graduated from University of Florida, scored in the top percentile on the MCAT and was waiting on admission letters from medical schools. He was active in his church and community and participated in mission trips, including one to Japan. He loved singing, playing the guitar and shared a passion that waspassed down by his parents for making a difference in the lives of others.
