Alex Reiss

Alex suffered a catastrophic spinal cord injury in his neck March 21, 2025 skiing with his family during spring break in Utah. This resulted in him being an incomplete C4 level quadriplegic. During the accident, he also had an embolic stroke, which caused him to lose the entire left visual field. He was air flighted from Utah to the Shepherd center in Atlanta where he was hospitalized inpatient for four months and then did intensive outpatient therapy there for another eight months. He is now back in Tampa, continuing intensive occupational, and physical therapy four days a week and is adding more therapy and stretches at home on all of the other days. He is making slow improvement with all of that effort and with assistance, he can take some steps walking. Unfortunately, he has not regained very much in his arms yet. He is completely dependent on family, friends, and caregivers for all of his activities of daily living. He has no independence at this point and is not able to return to work. Martina has taken a year off from work and is now starting back in a part-time capacity. Family and friends of Alex Reiss are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Injury. Alex has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
