A picture is worth a thousand words. Never would I have guessed HELP would be one. I am a single mother of two young men. Summer of 2020, our struggles as a family just began. We lost their father in a fatal car accident. Sticking together we overcame that hurdle. April of 2022 | was taken to the ER to find out my kidneys were at 5%. Little did I know I was going to be life flighted to Montana to start dialysis. I had to leave my boys at home without a parent. That was the scariest part for me!!! They continued to stay strong for me! Throughout the 10 long days in Montana, the doctors continue to complete many tests to finds answers to why my kidneys were failing. The final word came in after a kidney biopsy… “Amanda, you have IGA Nephropathy.” This is an autoimmune disease that can also be passed down to my children. Knowing this… I can’t ask my children for a kidney. I’m telling my story in hopes of finding a donor and raising funds for medical expenses that medical insurance won’t cover after transplant. The last 3 1/2 years have brought many changes for me. Changes that will last a lifetime. Dialysis 3 days a week will continue to be part of my routine, until I am gifted a kidney. As long as life provides hurdles.. I will find my way to the end of this race with the love and support of my family and friends.
