Amanda Needs Your Help as she fights a courageous battle with Stage IV Non-Hodgkin Follicular Lymphoma. 

I am a 32 year old wife, mother, daughter and sister. I have 2 young children both under the age of 10. Prior to being diagnosed with NHL I was pursuing a career as a chef preparing meals for mentally challenged patients. I am an avid baker and love to spend time with my family. 

I have been through 3 different types of chemotherapy in hopes of remission. Unfortunately with the last round of chemo, my body has stopped responding to the treatments. After long months of preparation, countless doctors appointments, tests and numerous trips to MCV in Richmond (close to 100 miles away), I am finally going to get her second shot at remission and a cure by way of a stem cell transplant to occur at MCV in Richmond.

Like all treatments, a transplant does not come easy. I will be in the hospital on the transplant floor for close to 30 days. During this time, I will undergo more chemo, very strong radiation, and then the transplant. After transplant my body will need time to absorb the new stem cells and fight the cancer. Once I have been released from the hospital I must remain in the Richmond area for 6 months. I have to have around the clock care 24/7 while recovering, even after leaving the hospital. This care must be provided by a family member. 

We have rented an apartment in the Richmond area for myself and the caregivers to stay. My husband and children will remain local (approx. 100 miles away from me) so he can work and my son can remain in school. They will travel to see me on the weekends.

All funds raised through this campaign  will go to offset the countless medical bills that have piled up (insurance doesn’t cover everything), to provide me with items I will need while in the hospital and to provide assistance with relocation and travel costs.

I am very optimistic about my future and with my perseverance and positive attitude I have no doubt I will overcome this illness and live a normal healthy life.
