Amber Martin

Amber Martin is only 22 years-old and is desperately fighting for her life. She is currently waiting for a double lung transplant as she was born with a progressive condition of the lungs, known as Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF is a genetic lung disease causing the production of abnormally thick mucus; it leads to blockage of the pancreatic ducts, intestines and bronchi eventually leading to major respiratory infections. CF patients often require a lung transplant as the production of thick mucus impairs breathing over time. Over the years, Amber’s condition has progressed and she has increasingly had a difficult time breathing. While there is no cure for CF, new lungs will make it possible for Amber to once again breathe and enjoy her life.

Cystic Fibrosis requires extensive medications and treatments, doctor’s appointments, lab fees, specialized equipment, medical supplies and home health services. As Amber undergoes medical testing at St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital in Texas, her out-of-pocket transplant expenses are quickly adding up. Even with health insurance, Amber is facing large co-pays and deductibles, medical bills, rehabilitation costs, travel and lodging fees, temporary relocation expenses and possibly a full-time caregiver. Amber will also be required to take costly post-transplant medications to halt rejection that are needed for the rest of her life. More than ever, Amber needs your financial assistance and support!
