Please help Amy get her kidney transplant.

My friend, Amy Moore, is a 31-year-old woman who has been battling end stage renal failure for the past 14 years. Amy was on dialysis for three years before receiving her first kidney transplant which has lasted 12 years but due to chronic rejection the kidney failed. Now Amy must have dialysis treatments 3 times a week in order to survive until she receives another transplant. She has already been placed on the transplant list at UNC Hospitals. The average wait for a cadaver kidney from the list is about 4 to 7 years.

Amy is an amazing, fun loving person with a very positive attitude about life. She has wonderful family and friends who are always supportive of her. Through all of her health stresses, Amy has continued to maintain her full time job at the North Carolina State Port Authority working in the container department, only recently going on disability after begining dialysis.

Transplants are extremely expensive, and costs can be devastating. Even though her insurance company will cover the bulk of the procedure, there are payments for hospital visits, clinics, and medications needed for the rest of Amy’s life, that insurance will not cover. To help defray these expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established in Amy’s honor through HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF).
