Andrea Fryer

Andrea is 48 years old and lives in Pennsylvania. She was the 3rd of her siblings to receive a heart transplant due to heart failure from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and was listed for transplant in 2023. Andrea happily received her new heart in 2025.

In 2015, Andrea found the perfect career. Her love for animals morphed into a dog walking and pet care business. Spending her days hanging with dogs and cats was her ideal vocation. She was particularly fond of the shy and anxious pets who needed extra patience.  She can’t wait to fully recover and continue her journey in the world of animal care.  

Once Andrea was diagnosed with Heart Failure her life really began to change. Over time, her body, exhausted, made work and socialization with family or friends incredibly difficult. Her decreasing energy forced her to put her business and beloved clients on hold. Now that she has her new heart she has a lot more recovering to do before she can attempt to get her business back up and running. She has to wait for her body to finish healing and be particularly careful about being exposed to any pathogens.

Andrea is fundraising to cover her insurance premiums, deductibles, co-pays and any other out of pocket expenses that may arise while she is recovering. 

Post transplant recovery is challenging. Anti rejection drugs bring loads of side effects. The doses and types of medication are at their strongest in the first few years. In order to have the best recovery possible, Andrea needs to put all her effort into following a strict routine. Keeping her new heart and body healthy is her predominant responsibility. With a bit of financial help, Andrea will be able to focus on her health, not the stress of the financial situation she finds herself in.
