Angel Rivera

Dear Family and Friends,

Angel Rivera is a courageous 59 year old man, father of a daughter, step-father to five others and the grandpa of three adorable grandchildren. He has been battling diabetes for as long as he can remember and has lost his mother and several siblings to this terrible disease. His condition has deteriorated over time and has had to undergo 12 surgeries. He now finds himself in end-stage renal failure and is on dialysis. His doctors have told him that his only chance at a long and healthy life is to have a kidney transplant.

As trying as these past 2 years have been for Angel he still finds the courage to keep on doing all that is humanly possible to survive. His children and grandchildren inspire him to keep going. He hopes to see the younger grandchildren grow up and be with them as they become adults creating lifelong memories for all of them.

Angel has undergone evaluations at the University Hospitals of Cleveland and was found to be a good candidate for transplantation. He is now on the active transplant waiting list. Because of the extraordinary expense of transplantation, funding this life-saving operation is a monumental task. While Angel receives social security and has insurance, he will have many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits and the expensive immunosuppressant medications that he will need to take for the rest of his life. These expenses present a financial challenge that he and his family cannot meet alone.
