Most people go through a day without thinking about breathing; a person with severe cystic fibrosis spends most of their day thinking of nothing else. Ann Marie (Annie) Cortina is one of those people; breathing has become her daily struggle. For this reason, she is waiting for a life-saving double lung transplant and the cost can be very overwhelming.

Ann Marie was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at the age of two. Until 13 months ago, while having health issues along the way, she was able to lead a relatively normal life with an amazing job, which allowed her to travel around the country and abroad. However, due to her rapid decline in health, Ann Marie needs the transplant much sooner than she anticipated. She is anxious to breathe, to return to her active lifestyle, to travel and to seize the day, no longer tethered to oxygen tubing. Your contribution of any amount will help her realize that dream.

Transplants are life-saving yet financially draining. Even with insurance, Ann Marie is facing very high expenses due to insurance co-payments, lab fees and anti-rejection medication costing thousands of dollars a month for her lifetime. Her family also asks for your prayer support.

To help with the financial burden of Ann Marie’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years.
