I am a retired nurse with over 50 years of experience, recently diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis)/Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Living with this diagnosis has been challenging, and my journey began about 3 months ago.

I love giving to others and find great joy in helping people. Others often notice my sweet, genuine spirit, which makes it easy for them to connect with me. I enjoy attending church services, watching sports, traveling with my family, and creating memories that we’ll cherish forever. However, I struggle with communication, walking long distances, and maintaining hand function and range of motion in my arms.

Due to my diagnosis, I am facing significant challenges, especially in communication and mobility. The cost of managing ALS can exceed $200,000 per year, even with Medicare insurance, as many essential services and medical equipment are often not fully covered. I am currently fundraising for in-home medical equipment, home health care, transportation and other essential needs for my care.

To support these efforts, I have chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting individuals with catastrophic illnesses. Donations made through this platform are tax-deductible for contributors and will specifically be used to cover uninsured medical and related expenses, ensuring that every dollar goes directly to my care.

I hope that the funds raised will allow me to function more independently and enable me to spend quality time with family and friends. I want to participate in activities I enjoy and give back to my community.
