Anthony Needs a Transplant and Needs Your Help

My husband, Anthony Henry, is a courageous man who has been battling diabetes mellitus and its complications since 1994. Due to the diabetes and hypertension, he developed end stage renal disease and has required hemodialysis three times per week, four hours per treatment, since August 2012. His best hope to return to a life of health, is a kidney transplant.

Anthony and I have been married for nine years and he has two daughters, ages 20 and 24. He has been active in the church all his life and was ordained a deacon eight years ago. He loves to sing in the church choir. Anthony worked as a corrections officer until his declining health forced him to resign. He hopes that after a transplant, he will be able to return to work and to salt water fishing!

Currently, Anthony is on the wait list for a kidney transplant. Despite having Medicare and Medicaid, many of his medical needs must be paid for out-of-pocket. These include necessary pre-surgery dental work and very high co-pays for post-transplant lifelong anti-rejection medications. Though transplants are life-saving, they are very expensive, which is why we are reaching out for your help.

To help with these medical expenses, a fundraising campaign in Anthony’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for more than 30 years.
