The Life and Times of Anthony Renard Thibodeaux

On September 19, 1987, Anthony was born prematurely at 11:13 am. While being evaluated, it was found that Anthony had a blockage in front of his bladder which made the urine flow backward and damage his kidneys. Anthony’s first surgery was during the first weeks of his life. We were told by doctors that we should be prepared for the worst.
We were informed that he needed post urethral valves which allowed the urine to flow from tubes connected to his kidneys through his back into a diaper. He was able to have surgery to remove the blockage from the bladder at the age of 1 ½. The tubes were then removed from his back.

The doctors and staff at Texas Childrens Hospital maintained his health until the kidneys would no longer be able to function at a level to keep him off of dialysis. While preparing for dialysis, he received a kidney at the age of 11 ½ in 1999. Anthony lived with this this transplant for 15 years. After a long commitment to that transplant, it failed and he went on dialysis on February of 2015.
He was then placed on the transplant list at Memorial Hermann in 2016. Due to ongoing issues at the Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center transplant unit, he was transferred to Baylor-St. Lukes; who had decided not to put him on the transplant list due to not having a savings account with at least $2900. We are racing against time because he has been on dialysis for almost 10 years. Although we were told he would not make it, God had other plans for his life.
We know that grace and mercy brought him from 1987 to 2024. He was able to play trumpet in his middle and high school band, He was active skateboarding in his teens and has been an avid gamer the majority of his life; with his favorites being the Halo series. What man saw as impossible; God proved to be possible. For 36 years no matter what comes our way, we do know who has the final say.
