Help Our Father and Papa Regain Mobility!!!

On August 2, 2018, our Father & Grandfather; Arnold (Ralph) Brown, the family patriarch, retired KCMO Fire Captain, and entrepreneur, suffered a stroke at home. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a spinal cord infraction that left him a paraplegic (paralysis of the legs and lower body). After a year of hospital stays and rehabilitation facilities, our father and grandfather continues’ to work daily to regain function and mobility, along with increasing his independence and quality of life. While he has experienced some movement in his lower body, his long-term prognosis remains unclear.

Arnold has always been active and athletically inclined. He loves sports, swimming, and traveling. Despite the physical challenges he now faces, Arnold is determined to have a full and productive life. He looks forward to revisiting church, social and community involvement.

As you can imagine, the cost of our father and grandfather’s care and recovery are extreme. Even with insurance, which provides only minimum recovery support to a stroke, not to mention a spinal cord stroke, we are facing many out-of-pocket expenses, such as home and vehicle modifications to accommodate his wheelchair, ongoing rehabilitation therapy, prescriptions, and full-time home health care. As we continue to care for him at home, we need your support now more than ever.
