Ashley Callahan

In July of 2022, Ashley Callahan was diagnosed with a rare form of vasculitis.

Vasculitis involves inflammation of the blood vessels. The inflammation can cause the walls of the blood vessels to thicken, which reduces the width of the passageway through the vessel. If blood flow is restricted, it can result in organ and tissue damage. As the Callahan family would soon find out, this disease attacked both of her kidneys and left her in massive kidney failure. Ashley has gone through months of inpatient and in-home dialysis hoping to restart what was left of her kidney function. Unfortunately, that has not happened and she now is a candidate for a full kidney transplant.

In March of this year, Ashley was officially accepted by the transplant center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She and Ryan have already made one trip out to visit the center and they are very excited to work with her transplant team. The transplant process is a large undertaking. In total, Ashley will have to spend six weeks of recovery time at the center once the surgery is complete. Your support will help their family with the additional travel costs and expenses along the way. Ryan is self-employed and plans to be by his wife’s side through the majority of the process. With both of them being off work, monetary support from family and friends will give them the peace of mind to endure this life-changing event.
