Dear Future Donor,

My name is Ashley Keen and my sister Tiffany wrote this on my behalf.

I wanted to start by thanking you for taking the time to read this. Life hasn’t always been easy for me, but I get up and keep going each and every day..

My goals:

I’m a 24 year old woman who has lived with cerebral palsy my entire life. Although my condition has challenged me, I continue to smile, laugh, love, and enjoy others’ kindness. My goal is to gain enough funding for an adaptive bicycle to make everyday life a little bit easier. I’ve required a caregiver, or loved one to meet my daily needs since I was born. I’m always striving to be more independent and believe this bike would not only help improve my physical well being, but it would help increase my social, and cognitive abilities also. The bike cost more than myself, or family, can provide and is not covered by insurance. It is approximately $9,741.58 and why I am seeking donations.

A little bit about me:

I enjoy being outdoors, and spend three days a week at an adult program with several of my friends. I love spending time with my family, laughing and playing, and have been told I’m very energetic! I’m loving, kind hearted, and always appreciative of others. I like going to parks, especially amusement parks, the beach, watching kids play, and hearing people laugh. I show love and appreciation with hand gestures, my facial expressions, and warm hugs.

My disability has caused me to sit on the sidelines most of my life, and watch others participate in fun activities, like bike riding; and exercising. Although it makes me happy to see others participating in fun activities, I also want to be able to do more myself. I am not able to ride a traditional bicycle and why I am needing one custom made.

A little bit about my dream bike:

Adaptive bikes are designed to accommodate a range of physical abilities and needs. Features such as customized seating, adjustable pedals, and stability supports ensure that the bicycle can be tailored to meet my specific requirements, enhancing both comfort and safety. For example, I have a femur length discrepancy. The adaptive bike would be altered to accommodate my specific anatomical features.

Adding an adaptive bicycle into my daily routine would provide substantial benefits, aligning with my goal to improve physical health, foster independence, and enhance my overall well-being. If I’m able to raise funding for this bike, I’m confident it will have a major impact on my life!
