Dear Friends, Family and Community,

Our mother, Barbara Skinner suffers from Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). She received a life changing Kidney transplant surgery on Friday August 28, 2015 around 6:45AM. The donor was a deceased donor. The family of the 5yr old little boy that she received the kidney from must one day know the gratitude we feel to them for saving our mother’s life.

Barbara is a loving mother, fun grandmother of seven, and good friend to many. You may know her as a business associate, sales representative, and a member of your club, church choir, community, teacher, or CASA volunteer. Unfortunately, this past year her health has been affected by the reduced function of her kidneys making her unable to work or be as involved as she has always been. She looks forward to living a long life, returning to work and investing her life in helping others and her community.

Barbara is over joyed by the gift she received with her new Kidney. We are very happy with the outcome but still have a long road ahead. We are all committed to supporting her through this process.

Even though she is fortunate enough to have health insurance, there are still many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, lab fees and her travel back and forth to the transplant center. In addition, she will be on a life-time of anti-rejection medications. This is where your help is needed.

To help with the financial burden of Barbara’s uninsured transplant related expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years.
