ROAD TO RECOVERY: Double Lung Transplant For Barbara

Hi! My name is Alisha – I’m Barbara’s Daughter! First thank you for taking some time to learn about my mom’s story… My mom has been sick for a very long time. Wondering her diagnosis? Unknow Lung Disease at least for 10+ years that’s all we knew it was. My mom found an amazing medical team after being hospitalized multiple times that was determined to find the root cause. She was finally diagnosed with Stage 3 COPD within the last year. During this time it was recommended she try to get put on the Lung Transplant List – We took all the steps in the right direction to do just that. My mom was put on the Lung Transplant list on April 1st. We got EXTREMELY LUCKY she was able to find a lung for transplant by April 28th. The beauty is we did not only get one lung but we got both to be transplanted.

Transplants don’t come without a cost. The new medications, relocations, time off of work, and so much more… It’s not easy to ask for help, especially when it involves something as personal and critical as my mom’s health. The financial burden of a double lung transplant is overwhelming, and I hope to seek support from my community during this challenging time.
Every donation, no matter the size, is not just a contribution toward the cost; it’s a gesture of compassion and solidarity, showing that others are there for me and my mom in this journey. I truly hope that together, we can make a difference and give my mom the chance she deserves for a healthier future.
