Help Beatrix Experience the Joy of Bike RidingBeatrix is an incredible 2-year-old who was born with spina bifida. In addition to spina bifida, she also has hydrocephalus, scoliosis, and a neurogenic bladder. As a full-time wheelchair user, she requires a lot of equipment to live an accessible and active life. While many of her needs are covered by insurance or through generous community donations, there is one item not covered—an adaptive handcycle.A handcycle would allow Beatrix to experience the freedom and fun of bike riding, using her hands to pedal and steer. This specially designed bike includes optional foot propulsion or a secure platform to keep her legs and feet safe. Best of all, the bike is custom-made to grow with her until she’s about 8 years old, giving her years of joy and exercise.The cost of this handcycle is a little over $4,500 due to the custom nature of her needs. We are reaching out to our community for donations to help make this dream a reality for Beatrix.
