Ben needs your financial support…

The normal life Ben lived forever changed when pandemic struck (true to each of us one way or the other).

August 17, 2021, we found Ben, hardly able to walk, hazy and pale. We took him to the urgent care and tests confirmed Covid Pneumonia. Subsequently, he was transferred to ER then to ICU. At the same time, our eldest daughter tested positive of COVID. While Ben was in the ICU, we could not visit due to exposure. I tried to take care of my daughter at home while knowing he was sick in the hospital.

Months passed and complications ensued: pulmonary embolism, pneumothorax severe hypoxemia, malnutrition, and more. With worsening conditions, on October 30, 2021, Ben was transferred to UCSD for lung transplant evaluation. We had to drive hours just visit him as he experienced a barrage of tests. By the Grace of God, intercession by our prayer warriors all around the world, and excellent care of the Lung Transplant team, on Nov 12, 2021 Ben finally got on the lung transplant list.

On December 17, 2021, we were informed that they found a match. Everything checked out that on December 18 at 2 am he was brought in the OR for his life changing lung transplant surgery.

The wait seemed like an eternity spent in prayer for God’s guidance on the hands of the surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and scrub techs and all who were involved in Ben’s surgery. At 1 pm, I got the call from the surgeon…”Surgery is done everything went well. You can come see him in ICU.” In ICU, two nurses busied themselves making sure everything was in order. I listened to the breathing machine humming and monitors beeping while he slept peacefully. He’s a trooper. There were minor hiccups post-surgery as anti-rejection drugs were adjusted.

On Jan 13, 2022, he was finally discharged. We have had to stay in close proximity to the hospital so I have to relocate with my 2 girls to be with him while he continues to recover and go for frequent labs, x-rays, and clinic visits
It has not been easy especially for my 2 girls, they have to adapt and adjust to new place and a new normal.

That said God has been watching over us Ben is on the right track to recovery but doesn’t end here. He has a long way to go and must be on his anti-rejection medications for life. We still have travel back to the Transplant Center for follow up labs, procedures, and clinic visits which has and will put financial strains to us a family.

For these reasons, Ben and I are asking for the financial support through Help Hope live to defray solely medical related expenses. Every donation you make is tax deductible.
