Brandon Tovar

Dear Friends and Family of Brandon Tovar,
Some of you know Brandon because you grew up with him in Atlanta, Georgia or maybe you’ve met Brandon when he moved to Dunlap, Illinois. Brandon is an amazing son, grandson, brother, and friend. And now he is very sick and he needs our help.

Brandon’s only chance for survival and a cure is a liver transplant.

At the young age of two months Brandon was diagnosed with a genetic disease called tyrosinemia. His tiny body could not break down certain foods, and over a period of time, toxins built up eventually causing liver failure. When he was just three years old, Brandon’s liver began to fail. At this point his mother was able to donate a portion of her liver to replace it. Thankfully, Brandon’s body accepted his mother’s liver and he was able to live a healthy life until recently.

In July of 2011, Brandon noticed that his stomach was swollen and an MRI confirmed that it was a symptom of liver failure. He was told that he needed to start the transplant process as soon as possible. Due to the seriousness of Brandon’s medical condition, his mother, Amie has had to become his primary caregiver. Amie and her family are now up against a challenge they cannot meet alone. This all brings us to the purpose of this letter. Not only is this transplant a major surgical procedure, it is very expensive and most of the costs will not be covered by insurance. As friends of the Snyder family, we can offer our help and prayers during this time. We can also help financially.

A fundraising campaign in Brandon’s honor has been established through HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF) for his uninsured medical expenses. HelpHOPELive is a nonprofit organization that has provided direct assistance to the transplant community for nearly 30 years. For those who are able and would like to contribute to help Brandon:
