Brenda Needs A Transplant And Our Support!

My Mom, Brenda Burkley, is a 61 year old mother of one and grandmother of two who has always been there for me and other family members. When her brother was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, she took him in and was his care giver until he passed away. Now I am asking for help for her. Brenda is in need of a kidney transplant and she needs everyone’s help to make this life-saving transplant possible.

Brenda grew up in Cleveland OH and graduated from Rhodes High School in 1972. Thirty-four years ago, she had a kidney transplant and did very well. Unfortunately the kidney is failing and she needs another transplant. I am being tested to be live donor, but Mom will need help with funding the transplant.

Even with insurance, Brenda will have many out of pocket medical expenses including hospital, doctor, and lab bills, travel, and the very expensive anti-rejection medications that she will have to take for the rest of her life. To help with the financial burden of Brenda’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Great Lakes Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
