Brian Hynes

The Hynes family would like to thank each of you who have reached out to show your love and support for Brian at this time. The last three years have been trying. The shooting, the bar closing, caring daily for his mother through her passing, plus the pandemic and the continual shut down of the BL Saloon have each taken quite the toll on him. However, he has done his best to take on adversity with a smile and a positive outlook. Brian has focused his time and energy on supporting the needs of friends, family and of course, our community – he has always worked to keep the Borderline dream alive.

Over the years, Brian has been intent on helping others before himself and unfortunately it has taken a devastating toll on his health. Throughout the past year, Brian has been in and out of the hospital and on March 28th, he was admitted to Cedar Sinai Medical Center where he will remain for the duration of his treatment. He has been diagnosed with genetic liver disease and is in desperate need of a liver transplant to sustain life.

While we know many of you will want to call/text him or Jamie, we ask that you respect his privacy and understand the stress he is under as he awaits transplant. At this time, he cannot take calls or field texts like he once used to and in an effort to keep him focused on his treatment and eventual recovery we ask that you please do not contact him or Jamie, but instead show your love via social media platforms. When he is ready, he will be able to read all of the comments/messages and will feel the immense love of his community.

On the bright side, he has undergone several days of extensive screening and has a team of doctors advocating for his candidacy for a liver transplant. He is currently at the top of the list of candidates based not only on his current state of health but the person he is. This is not an easy process, but the team assigned to him is expediting his treatment because they believe him to be a man worth giving a second chance at life. Brian had previously accepted the reality of his situation and the news of this opportunity has been overwhelming to say the least.

A lot of you have asked about donations to help with the costs of this process. We have included a link to a nonprofit that is helping the family with Brian’s treatment. We thank you again graciously for your amazing love for Brian, he and the family are extremely grateful for all of you and your support. He is a fighter, you all know that. Let’s rally behind him.
