Brian Needs Our Help!

Brian Nichols is a big, strong, loving, fun, passionate man. In 1998, this indomitable man suffered his first congestive heart failure and unfortunately a second in 2003. He was treated and, thankfully, got his health back as well as could be expected, however, since then he has been on medication and has needed checkups to make sure his heart was doing okay.

Brian’s heart never regained full strength and after back surgery in the fall of 2015, his heart became even weaker. He was now suffering from advanced heart failure. Thanks to a team of brilliant surgeons, doctors and nurses, Brian came through his back surgery very well and is recovering nicely.

Nevertheless, doctors determined the medications he had been taking had stopped working and the only way to prevent his heart from getting weaker was to have an LVAD (left ventricle assist device) implanted. This will keep him alive until a heart becomes available and he is transplanted, hopefully in the near future.

Brian needs our help to make this happen. The medical bills are mounting, not to mention the cost of aftercare and recovery when he finally does get to go home. Even with Medicare, transplantation, follow-up treatments and anti-rejection medication he will need to take for the rest of his life are very expensive. This letter was sent to you because you are a family member or a friend of Brian and his wife Sandy. Maybe you know them through their children, Taylor, Drew, Tony and Tyler. We are coming together as a family committed to seeing Brian through this transplant. We need your help.
