Brooke Spann

My name is Daniel and my wife is Brooke. You may know Brooke from meeting her in Wilmington or growing up with her in Winston Salem. Brooke is an amazing wife and mom to our daughters Emma and Cora (shown in picture with Mommy). In November, Brooke started feeling sick and after many tests and procedures, she was diagnosed with a liver disease — Autoimmune Hepatitis. After spending time at the UNC Transplant Clinic in January, Brooke has been placed on the active transplant waiting list. A liver transplant is now her only chance of survival.

Brooke and I have come to realize that funding a liver transplant surgery is a monumental task. Even with insurance, we will have many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel to and from the transplant center and the costly immunosuppressant medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life.

To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Brooke’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years.
