Calvin R Davis

Calvin is a 34-year-old brilliant young man who wants to get out in his community. On May 15, 1992, he was born at 27 weeks in a hospital on the island of Guam that had no NICU. He had to be medevac to the nearest NICU that was in Japan. At the time of his transport and his stay in the NICU, Calvin received too much oxygen to his brain and as a result, he has Cerebral Palsy. He was told that due to all of his respiratory issues, he would not live past the age of 5 but look who is still here! Calvin was not supposed to talk, but he enjoys talking to others, especially about sports and God. Since the age of two, Calvin has been in a wheelchair unable to walk. He has had surgeries to decrease the tone in his hips and a steel rod was placed in his spine. Calvin wants to work but to do that, he needs to be able to get about in his community with reliable transportation. He depends on his parents or sister to get him from place to place. His dad has a van but it is not accessible. Calvin must be taken out of his wheelchair and lifted into the van.
