Cara Moro

On the night of Friday, September 3, 2011, life as Cara Moro knew it changed forever. While doing a cheerleading stunt with a friend, Cara fell and broke her back. She was rushed into surgery and cared for by the Shands medical team, but sadly the tragic accident left her paralyzed from the waist down.

Anyone that knows Cara would describe her as loving, fun, and full of energy. As a 19-year old sophomore at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida, Cara was studying to be a nurse and preparing to transfer into the University of Florida where she would finish her degree. Cara loves spending time outside, especially jet skiing at the lake with her family or swimming and laying out at New Smyrna Beach. This injury has left her trying to relearn how to do all of the things she once enjoyed so much.

Amazingly, Cara has remained true to her character and has been optimistic during this time. She knows it will be a long journey to recovery and refuses to give up.

Cara is now living at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia where she is receiving rehabilitation therapy and learning how to live with her injury. Luckily, the Shepherd Center is one of the best rehabilitation centers in America and Cara is able to participate in experimental therapy techniques. However, the cost of her care and her future medical expenses will be astronomical.

As her family and friends we are trying to raise money so that Cara can get the care she needs and will be able to continue her degree after rehabilitation.Family and friends of Cara Moro are raising money to pay for uninsured medical expenses associated with catastrophic injury.
