Scott Needs Your Help

For those of you who don’t know, in 2015 Scott became very ill. When all the testing was done, we found out he was in renal (kidney) failure. As a result, Scott now needs a kidney transplant. We are working with an incredible team of people at the University of Maryland Medical Center to make this happen. A kidney transplant is Scott’s best hope for a long and healthy life, however, it is very expensive.

Some of you may remember him from his 10 years working at Sheetz store #184 in Maryland or from Christ United Methodist Church. Some may know him as my husband or through his stepchildren, Jennifer, Carl, Kelsey and Greg. When he is not undergoing dialysis, Scott volunteers with Sunday school, working occasionally at church dinners or lunches. He enjoys walking through downtown Waynesboro with his dog. He is looking forward to life-post transplant when he is healthy and strong again.

Transplants are lifesaving, but financially draining. Following the transplant, we will need to stay close to the hospital for at least two weeks. Additionally, there will be co-pays, follow-up visits, medications and other expenses not covered by insurance. These could cost up to $10,000.

To help with the financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Scott’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. If we all work together we can make this happen and give Scott a better and longer life. His next goal is to be present at the wedding of our oldest daughter.
