Throughout 2021-2022, Carley sustained multiple concussions and mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI — an invisible injury) after a series of 4 auto accidents. Two of the auto accidents were hit-and-runs. The first and last resulted in the cars ruled as total losses. This series of accidents over such a short amount of time, coupled with their severity, have had catastrophic effects on Carley’s neurological health and quality of life. Some of the symptoms Carley now suffers from as a result of the accidents include, but are not limited to: dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system; sensorineural issues; neurological headaches; functional vision problems; double vision; light sensitivity; blood dysregulation; hormone issues; cervical issues; and cognitive impairments.

We’re asking you, her friends & family to join us in fundraising for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to help with critical expenses and fees Carley faces as she begins an intensive treatment program at a premier research clinic in November to recover optimal functionality of her brain.

Carley has led a life with grit and optimism pursuing positive relationships with a bubbly and caring nature. At the time of the first accident, Carley was transitioning from her career as a private hairstylist in Los Angeles to a career in healthcare. Carley’s neurological disability prevents her from completing tasks she once completed with ease. Her injuries also render her unable to use her skillset as a hairstylist to support herself financially.

Today her goal is to become a Speech and Language Therapist specializing in neurological diseases, disorders and brain injuries. She pursues this goal as her contribution to the growing field and need of individuals like her.

Carley will be a patient at Cognitivefx clinic in Provo, Utah. This is a comprehensive neurorehabilitation clinic that uses a multidisciplinary team approach and will provide proven cutting-edge concussion treatment that has a high recovery rate. It’s the only clinic in the nation using a functional NeuroCognitive Imaging (fNCI) scan to treat PCS that neurologists typically have difficulty diagnosing. Once identified, they effectively treat the root causes not just her symptoms.

Because Cognitivefx is a non-participating insurance company provider her ten day rehabilitation program costs $27,000. That includes a rotation of neuromuscular, cognitive, occupational, neurointegration, psychological and sensory therapies that can significantly reduce her symptoms. Due to the new technology of the fNCI, this ability to diagnose and treat Carley is not covered by insurance. Donations to Help Hope Live can help ease the financial burden of her treatment allowing Carley to focus, read and attend better and flourish once more.
