Carlos Prochazka

Carlos, a 71-year-old loving husband, father, and grandfather, was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) on December 2nd, 2023. ALS is a progressive disease that causes muscle degeneration, leading to loss of mobility, speech, and breathing. ALS is fatal and there is no cure. Since 2021, Carlos has experienced increasing falls and difficulty with basic movements, eventually relying on a walker and cane. The disease has rapidly worsened, leaving him unable to walk and affecting his respiratory system. Carlos, previously an active person passionate about woodworking, now faces severe physical limitations and relies on a wheelchair. His family has been helping meet his needs, but the financial strain is overwhelming. One urgent need is repairing his wheelchair van to ensure safer transfers to medical appointments.
