UPDATE: Carmen received his transplant and is beginning the long slow road of healing. The family now needs financial help more than ever as they cope with mounting medical bills. Some of you know my father, Carmen Palmieri, from New Jersey where he grew up, worked and owned a printing business, and where he coached little league football. Some of you know him from Pennsylvania, where he lived, worked and owned a restaurant, and raised his children, John, April, and Andrea (me). And now, some of you know my father from Florida, where he has tried to work and enjoy his wonderful grandchildren, Robert, David, Joseph, Gavin, Anthony, Cody, Samantha, and Amber. However, due to his poor health, he has been unable to work at this time. And sometimes, he doesn’t even know who his grandchildren are.

My father was diagnosed with liver disease over ten years ago. A reformed alcoholic, he is now devoted to AA and attends meetings faithfully. He regrets his mistakes of the past and is hoping that God will grant him a second chance at life. A liver transplant is now his only chance of survival. He needs a new liver as soon as possible.

A liver transplant is life-saving but very expensive. My parents can’t handle the overwhelming costs. In order to ease their financial burden, we are trying to raise enough money to cover the co-pays and deductibles that will accrue over the time while he is in the hospital when he gets a transplant.
