My name is Casa and in 2020. I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and COPD. After being on oxygen 24/7 for three years, on June 1, 2023, I underwent a bilateral lung transplant. In addition to the transplant, I have undergone three additional surgeries as a result of complications. I am asking friends and family to join me in fundraising for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to assist with future medical expenses.

I have always had a positive outlook on life and enjoyed helping others. Two of my passions were the homeless and elderly. I enjoyed making hats, scarves and blankets to give to the homeless. I also enjoyed preparing gift baskets to be distributed to the elderly in nursing homes for the holidays. Since my surgery, I can no longer go into the community, visit nursing homes, or be in large crowds because of my weakened immune system.

While I have health insurance, it does not cover all transplant expenses. I still have out-of-pocket costs such as insurance deductibles, co-pays. and some anti-rejection medications that I must take the rest of my life that insurance does not cover. These medications alone cost $4,000.00 every 3 three months!

Without these medications my lungs will go into rejection and shorten my life span.

Donations to Help Hope Live will help ease the stress and worry of the financial burden. This will allow me to work towards living a more productive life as I focus on my continued recovery.
