Thank you to all our friends and family for taking the time to visit our medical fundraising campaign page.

This organization that we found at the annual Abilities Expo has helped more than 25,000 individuals and families.

We are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with living with Spina Bifida. Lindsay and I are grateful for all that we have and the full lives that we live. Having a family with two people with Spina bifida means that there are a lot of out of pocket expenses to cover. In order to stay healthy and active we often must visit medical specialists and physical rehabilitation facilities. We must purchase durable medical equipment, prescriptions, adaptive equipment, and make accessible home modifications. Often these things are not covered by insurance at all or we have to pay a large portion of the bill.

Everyone in the disability community knows that these added expenses can be stressful. On top of everyday life, the added time and effort dealing with insurance companies and medical billing companies, is like another full time job.

The last six years have been a roller coaster. Lindsay had a quality of life surgery that did not go as planned. This surgery and a number of system failures resulted in a long recovery that was slowed even more with additional physical injuries. During this time Lindsay had to focus on her recovery although she continued to work as much as possible. Our medical bills that are normally high have been more frequent than ever during this time. We want to stay as healthy as possible and will always continue to need all of the above to achieve the best quality of life.

Your contributions will help allow us to get the care and support systems we need to stay healthy and focus on our aspirations and dreams.

We live active lives. Lindsay works as a clinical social worker in a private practice as a therapist. She is passionate about helping her clients with mental health and achieving their goals. She is eagerly awaiting to pass her LCSW exam to advance her career. She also gives back to the community through the time she gives to programs at her church. She also is involved in disability advocacy through her work as Ms. Wheelchair NJ 2020-2021. I work in disability services helping the individuals and families navigate the New Jersey system of care. We enjoy adaptive sports like ballroom dancing and surfing, and pretty much anything that involves water. We like to travel when possible and find new experiences.

We have chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live. Help Hope Live is a wonderful nonprofit that assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors.
