Charlie Shaffer

My name is Charlie Shaffer and I want to tell you a little about myself. I’m 58 years old and an Army veteran who served in Desert Storm. When I came home, I worked for 22 years in the tool and die industry. I’m married to Colleen and we’re celebrating our 12th anniversary this year. I have three grown children, Jacob, Lauryn and Christian.

When I was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease, the doctors told me that at some point I may need a lung transplant. As it turns out, I was able to hold off needing one until my health and ability to breathe took a terrible turn for the worse in early 2023.

My family and friends are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund ongoing uninsured medical expenses associated with my 2023 lung transplantation.

I have chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because the organization assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses.
