Cheray Pointer

Cheray is a 57 year old mother of five children with a master’s degree in English. On November 29, 2023, Cheray suffered a QT Pro-longed heart attack. It took paramedics 45 minutes to revive her which caused her to have an agnostic brain.

Cheray is a very loving, caring and giving person. She loves the Lord and even with a dramatic brain injury she still continues to praise and sing songs to the Lord. She loves being around children and with her God-given gift of teaching, she spends as much time as she can teaching children. If you ask her how’s she doing, her favorite phrase is, “I’m blessed and highly favored,” and will ask you constantly throughout the day, “Did I tell you I love you today?” She does not take her second chance for granted.

Cheray “walks by faith and not by sight” knowing that she will be completely healed one day. Daily she challenges herself to have a new memory such as; learning how to talk, remembering who she is, simple things like rolling over in bed, brushing her teeth, dressing herself and to walk again and many other things that we often take for granted. A hoyer-lift and wheelchair has become her daily mode of getting around.

Cheray needs includes funding for transportation (a Van that is wheelchair accessible), exercised-based rehab, occupational therapy, medical equipment, bills, supplies and tools to help with mobility, communication and memory. Her hope and prayer is that she will continue to strive, to heal, to help and encourage others to keep hope alive and to spread her testimony of how it took God and a community greater than herself to survive.
