I Want My Independence Back!!

Due to falling out of my chair and severely bruising my hip joint, I can no longer use my walker to get back to my driver’s seat after loading my chair on the back of my SUV. Along with my diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, I have an added diagnosis of severe Osteoporosis which will make it even more dangerous for me to try and use my walker.

As the Director of the North Baldwin Literacy Council, I assist adults with learning to read and to get their GED. There are some days I cannot get in my vehicle to drive to my students. If I had a van, I wouldn’t have to cancel class because I can’t stand long enough to get into my vehicle.

Donations will help me purchase a van with a lift and hand controls that I can just roll into and then get into the driver’s seat. With a fully accessible van I will once again have my independence and I will be able to come and go as I need to without having to wait for someone to go with me.
