Hi, I’m a grandma of two with one more due any day now. My family is my life. My husband takes care of me tirelessly every single day. He has been to every pretesting as well as every regular doctor’s visit. No one could possibly feel the love that I do from him.

I received my first lung transplant, the right lung, on September 5th, 2014. It worked very well for about a year and a half. I have ended up with chronic rejection. This resulted in having to aggressively adjust medications in order to maintain the appropriate levels necessary to combat the rejection. One treatment the doctors ordered was photopheresis. This treatment is very expensive and was initially covered by my husband’s insurance. Unfortunately when he had to change jobs his new insurance would not cover it.

I have now reached the next level in maintaining my health. The transplant team will now try another lung transplant on me. This one will involve my left lung as well as a kidney transplant. Due to the nature of transplants, one of the casualties was my kidney function. The doctors feel this will help me to improve my quality of life. With the improvement in the quality of my life I will be able to enjoy my family as well as any additions.
