Cheryl Needs Our Help.

Cheryl Lute is very ill and needs our help. After years of struggling with pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension, a double lung transplant is her only hope for survival. She is on the active transplant waiting list with The Cleveland Clinic and is due to have the surgery in the coming months. Cheryl is one of the kindest and most giving people you will ever meet.

*Update – Cheryl had the transplant on December 22 and is currently recovering in the ICU.

Cheryl has lived in Piketon her entire life and is married to her high school sweetheart, Bill. Together, they raised their only child, Mindy, who is married to Chris Williamson. Cheryl has two young grandchildren, Caiden and Hadlee, who are the centers of her life. She worked as a nursing assistant for 28 years — most of that time at Traditions of Bristol Village. Cheryl’s poor health forced her into early retirement at 49, and today she is on continuous high levels of oxygen and struggles with the common activities of daily living. Cheryl and Bill are members of the Waverly Baptist Temple and are excited about this opportunity that God has provided for them. Cheryl and her family look forward to the day when she can breathe on her own and enjoy life’s little moments with her family and friends. They want to thank everyone for their continued prayers.

Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Even with insurance, Cheryl will have many uninsured-transplant related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, travel and at least three months of temporary relocation housing for herself and a caregiver and the costly anti-rejection medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life (approximately $1200 a month).
