Chloe Barker

Family and friends of Chloe Barker (ME!) are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with my Kidney Transplant. I have chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

In February 2020, I became septic! Apparently, I had a UTI and I didn’t know it. I went to a walk-in clinic because I wasn’t feeling well. They rushed me to the ER, where, when I was finally conscious, I was in the ICU. I don’t remember much at all, but I remember the tube down my throat. I remember the pee bag. I remember the gall bladder drainage bag. Many other things. They even called my mother to tell her she might want to come say her goodbyes. She lived in Minnesota, and I lived in Arizona. Anyway, after they were pretty sure I wasn’t going to make it, I pulled through! You see, I’m a fighter! They pumped me with so many fluids, I left the hospital weighing 30 lbs more and was puffy. So, whereas the fluid helped get rid of the Septicness, it killed my kidneys. I like playing poker and other games, but sometimes I’m just too tired to play. I would like to travel around and not have to worry about where to get dialysis. And you can’t live forever on dialysis. I’m raising money to cover the expenses that are not covered by insurance. Food, lodging, living donor expenses not covered by my insurance, after care, post operation pills, etc. Thats why I need help of any amount! I would be very happy! Can you be a living donor? I can send you info on that, although I know that’s huge. Thanks for reading!
