Chris Received His Life-Saving Kidney Transplant!!

Experiencing Stage 5 ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) diagnosed in March of 2019, surgeries and dialysis were the starting point for his unfortunate health issues. BUT excitingly Chris received his new kidney July 9th, 2021! Thanks to Community Care through the VA with Oklahoma Medical Center, he was only on the transplant list for a short time. Now he is on a journey of caring for his new kidney; consisting of lab work, often-adjusted anti-rejection medication regimen and constant visits to the clinic. The medical expenses involved are adding up and he needs our help to ease the burden of all of that living on a fixed income.

Chris is a 9-year U.S. Navy Veteran, enlisting right out of high school. Once he became a husband to Amanda, then a father to Zoey multiple deployments changed his desire to being more present for his family and therefore he honorably separated from the Navy. Thoughts of his family and Zoey’s future keep him motivated to fight to live for as long as he is given. Watching her grow up, go to college, walking her down the aisle at her wedding and becoming a grandfather someday are just naming a few milestones he wants to be present for. And he SHOULD be!!!

Although Chris has some help from the VA and Medicare, medical expenses exist and keep adding up. From hospital, provider, laboratory bills, out of pocket medications/medical equipment, help with transportation costs are his financial responsibility.

Donations to “Help Hope Live” in honor of Chris help ease the financial burden of receiving the life sustaining kidney and his focus be more on caring for his wife and daughter with the beautiful future he has been given.
