PLEASE HELP CHRIS CONTINUE TO THRIVE AND BE AN INSPIRATION

My son, Chris, is a 36 year old quadriplegic with cerebral palsy. He was born in July 1988 as a healthy 7 lb 7 oz baby boy. The next day his lungs collapsed. The Drs said that he didn’t get enough oxygen to his brain which resulted in him having cerebral palsy. The Dr’s advised me to unplug the machines that were keeping him alive because he would never make it to be a week old. They informed me that if he did survive that he would always be an in a vegetative state and would never be able to communicate, walk, talk, eat with the aid of feeding tubes, or anything else that would give him any kind of normal life. I refused and was able to take him home when he was 11 days old. He came home with feeding tubes but quickly learned how to drink from a bottle so I removed the tubes the same day.
Chris graduated High School and attended one semester of college. All through school, Chris loved participating in Special Olympics. Chris grew up in a single parent household with his Mom and his two younger brothers. We have never let his disability stop him from doing anything he set his mind on doing.

Fast forward to today….He is a healthy smart young man that loves participating in extreme sports such as Ironman, Spartan, marathons, half marathons, 10k, 5k, just to name a few. Chris is able to do these races with the help of friends and strangers that become friends that lend him their legs. While participating in the competitions, he is funding for various charities such as Make-A-Wish, Special Olympics, ALS Foundation, and many more. He is advocating and spreading inclusion not only for himself, but for everyone that has a disability. He is showing the world that he can do anything that anyone else can do with a few modifications and a little help. Anytime someone tells him “You can’t do that” his response is “WATCH ME!”

Chris has medicaid for insurance and is also in a medicaid-waiver program that cover some of his medical expenses but nowhere near all of the uninsured medically-related expenses for things such as specialized equipment, therapies, home modifications, and many more to help normalize his everyday life so he can live it to the fullest.

Family and friends of Christopher Kemp are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Catastrophic Injury.
