Hi everyone, my name is Christopher Midkiff. I was born with something called spastic cerebral palsy. This causes extreme tightness (spasticity) in the muscles and ligaments. In my case, it’s concentrated in my lower extremities, making walking difficult. I’ve been a wheelchair user my whole life, but I don’t let it hold me back. I’ve always faced life head-on – no fear! I love people, and find making new friends easy with my charming personality.

Unfortunately, the spasticity from my CP has progressed to the point where sitting for a long time is not physically possible for me. As a wheelchair user, this means I have a very limited ability to live my life – and that’s not okay for a guy like me! My lower back, tailbone, and legs are most impacted, but the rest of me hurts, too.

I have, however, discovered this remarkable new wheelchair cushion that may turn things around for me. It uses technology to recognize pressure points when sitting down and adjust support to minimize them. With this device, I could live a much more active life in much less pain.
